ALONG, MARCH 30: The West Siang Deputy Commissioner and Chairman District Blindness Control Society Along, Tope Bam has lauded the noble venture undertaken by the health department. He was addressing the gathering of a free Mega Eye Camp organized by the District Blindness Control Society Along on March 28 last, reports DIPRO. |

The Eye diseases are rampant among all age groups and such camp organized from time to time will immensely benefit the poor and needy people who cannot afford treatment outside the district Bam said. Patients suffering from various eye ailments will be operated upon. He appreciated the doctors and officials involved in the camp and encouraged them to keep up the good work. |

District Medical Officer, Dr. Emi Rumi said that the eye camp is a follow-up of many a mega camp organized earlier and is being organized as the district is without eye specialist. He further said such camps would take care of eye patients and mitigate their problem . The patients have been screened from various places through long drawn process . The specialist from Pasighat Dr. (Mrs). Yater Ringu Darang, while giving a few tips on eye care, Dr. Yater Ringu Darang disclosed that hypertension, growing diabetes and cataract are the main causes of blindness adding the mission to render the poor and needy people . During the last two years she has operated upon large number of patients using safe and latest operation technologies.
Meanwhile, the week long immunization week on six preventable diseases is picking up pace at Along.
