Governor meets Cultural Minister

The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) met the Minister of State (Independent Charge) Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India Dr. Mahesh Sharma at New Delhi on 6th June 2018. They discussed about the strengthening of the vibrant cultural assets of the State. The Governor requested the Union Minister for opening of five State of the Art Music Academies in Arunachal Pradesh, one each at Itanagar, Tawang, Aalo, Pasighat and Changlang.

The Governor also requested the minister for promotion of literary, visual and performing arts in Arunachal Pradesh. Vividly describing about the 26 major and 106 minor tribes of the State each having distinct cultural heritage and traditions, the Governor called for creating cultural awareness of the State at national and international cultural exchange levels.

The Governor, who has toured the entire State from Tawang District in the West to Longding District in the East, said that the people of Arunachal Pradesh have a very high creative quotient along with the rest of the States of the region. Imbibed with high creativity, the youth of the State have excelled in the different fields of arts and music,including performing arts, he stated.
While emphasizing for a visible and concrete action to nurture and showcase the naturally gifted creativity at the national and international platform, the Governor asked for a speedy time bound programme for the opening of the Music clubs in the State.
The Union Minister assured the Governor of his help and said that the proposal will be studied with due care for taking it forward in the best possible way.
